Origins

Two decades ago, Robson retreated from the rhythm of London to the Far East, seeking creative renewal. In a hidden atelier tucked away from view, he immersed himself in the art of traditional intaglio.

Surrounded by copper plates, finely honed tools, and the subtle scent of ink, he devoted himself to engraving visions that combined discipline, meditation, and imagination.

The origins of these prints trace back to Japan, where Robson spent a formative period immersed in the art of traditional intaglio.

Inspiration

While the first installment drew on Christian iconography, this series channels the contemplative depth and serenity of Buddhist philosophy.

Each plate carries careful lines imbued with intention, blending traditional technique with Robson’s dreamlike, fantastical interpretations. The result is a series that evokes serenity, reflection, and subtle transcendence, each print a meditation in form and spirit.

Like their predecessors, these works were treasured within a select circle but remained unseen when Robson returned to England, the original copper plates lost or destroyed.

For more than twenty years, the prints remained hidden, glimpsed only by a select few who witnessed their brief appearance.

Reemergence

After decades in archival obscurity, Arte Delux and Simon Lee Robson have made these prints available once more.

Each intaglio print is hand-signed, with a limited edition produced from the original plates. A small number of Artist’s Proofs and Hors de Commerce editions offer collectors an exceptional opportunity to acquire rare variants, ensuring these meditative works find a place in private collections for years to come.
