About

Simon Lee Robson

Originally from the quiet wilds of rural North Yorkshire, England, and now based in the leafy suburbs of North West London, Robson is an English artist whose work explores the enduring traditions of classical European painting.

He attended Leeds Art College during the 1990s, where he developed a strong foundation in traditional techniques and art history. His work draws inspiration from the dramatic chiaroscuro of Caravaggio and the imaginative vision of Salvador Dalí, influences that inform his distinctive approach to composition and atmosphere.

Following journeys and extended stays in Japan, Robson also developed a deep appreciation for Japanese artistic traditions. The clarity of composition, sensitivity to negative space, and subtle balance characteristic of Japanese art have informed aspects of his visual language, lending a quiet, contemplative quality to many of his works.

Robson’s paintings encompass portraiture, figurative studies, landscapes, and occasional surreal compositions. Working across these genres, he creates carefully composed works that balance traditional technique with imaginative interpretation, often drawing on the visual language of classical European painting while incorporating a refined sense of spatial harmony.

His work is held in private collections across the United Kingdom and internationally. Robson’s most recent collections at Arte Delux include Canvas Vault Part 3 | 2025 and Neon Ancestors |2025.
