What is Giclée Printing?

Giclée (pronounced “zhee-clay”) is a high-quality printing technique used to produce fine art reproductions with exceptional detail and colour accuracy. The term comes from the French word gicler, meaning “to spray”, referring to the inkjet process that deposits tiny droplets of pigment-based ink onto archival paper or canvas.

Unlike standard prints, giclée prints use fade-resistant, museum-grade inks and acid-free materials, ensuring rich colour depth and remarkable longevity, typically 100–200 years with proper care, and up to 200–300 years in optimal dark storage. This technique is favoured by artists and collectors for its ability to replicate the look and feel of original artworks with impressive precision.

For limited editions, giclée printing is the gold standard in fine art reproduction, offering a stunning and durable alternative to traditional methods.

Arte Delux uses the giclée process in the majority of its limited edition art, ensuring the highest quality and lasting beauty for collectors and art lovers.
